Site Advisor
Well, here it is March already and much is taking place in the security field. With spam, spoofing, phishing, computer viruses, etc., there have been some very active in helping users gain back control. I have stumbled upon a plugin that is for IE and Mozilla Firefox. Most of you are either using Firefox exclusively or for the majority of your browsing. So, installing this plugin is a breeze. It is called Siteadvisor and does just that, advises you on the site before you even go to it and of course when you are on the site! Let me explain. SiteAdvisor maintains a list of safe sites to browse and catalogs them. Your browser then identifies which sites are considered safe or unsafe. Rather then go into detail about what is deemed safe or unsafe, I recommend you go to their site and read all about it. Once you install it, you can forget about it. How cool is that!
A couple of notable items. Please look at the recommended specs and make sure you meet them. For example SiteAdvisor recommends Firefox 1.0.7 and better yet 1.5 (most of you should be using by now 1.5.0.1 which is the latest update version). Also, SiteAdvisor recommends Internet Explorer 6.0. If you installed 7.0 Beta 2 Public Release do not install this plugin. However, most of you that are using IE are probably using 6.0. How do you find out. Open the browser click "Help" and then "About". This is a FREE PLUGIN, and can be downloaded from there site: http://www.siteadvisor.com/preview/
